Dawn White-Fosdick is the Executive Director for Christian Assistance Ministries, (CAM). Dawn was raised in a Christian Family and attended mostly private Christian Schools until High School. In fact, she has moved 13 time before graduating and went to 3 high schools. Her faith is in Christ and in the message of salvation. Worshiping in many denominations has allowed her to serve at CAM, which is made up of volunteers and support from all different churches. She has a deep respect for the power of the Body of Christ, working together to share and show His message of grace and hope.
Dawn has been at CAM for 11 years and has worked for nonprofits in SA for 22 years. CAM was founded in 1977 by nine San Antonio churches and today is supported by over 80 today. CAM works much like an emergency room of social services, all are welcome and no one must make an appointment. By providing for safety net needs, immediately, we can ensure that further crisis can be avoided or that the client is stabilized in order to get further help with a specialized nonprofit. CAM is dedicated to helping those with great need facing long term or short term crisis.
CAM has a volunteer force of 200 and serves 50,000 people annually with 8 full time and 3 part time staff. CAM Helps people with financial assistance for utilities, prescriptions, and ID recovery. Help comes through items such as food, clothing, help with transportation and referrals to other organizations for long term help. For clients who are homeless, CAM provides 5000 meals per month, a free place to receive mail, showers and hygiene items. Annually CAM provides coats, school supplies and a free Christmas store. CAM’s spiritual support includes prayer, daily morning chapel and Bibles.
Join us in an incredible discussion on giving to those in need; the poor, the hungry the hurting.
