Today we consider the golem who becomes Gladys, arbitrarily made female and given a dress to wear. Gladys goes from that artificial gender identification to a golem who considers herself feminine, mostly because of the books the counter girls in the post office, where Gladys works, give her to read.

          Gladys, by the end of Making Money, has become a fully liberated woman, in every sense of the word.

          That begs the question: what happens when the thousand golems with no chem in their heads begin to become free as the result of the Golem Trust’s efforts?
