Brief Encounters

Global Standards for Democratic Elections

Listen Later

As part of the DC Bar International Law Community’s historic year of elections* initiative focusing on global principles and standards for national elections, Tzili Mor interviews Patrick (Pat) Merloe, renowned global elections expert and DC Bar member, who elucidated the evolution, progress, and current concerns about elections and human rights globally and in the United States.

In addition to expert speakers on the topic, the International Law Community gathered key resources on Global Elections and Electoral Standards, including guidance for legal frameworks, equal access to voting, protections for election observers and electoral workers, electoral integrity and accountability.

*This year over half the globe’s population has already or will be voting in over 80 national elections, making this year the biggest election year in history, and the largest election cycle until 2048.
