Having paid quite a lot for the scary high voltage firecracker ornament I decided to get one of the cheap ones in case it also had the sparkers inside, but the only thing inside this that's going to go bang is the circuit board.

The circuitry is notable for being divided into two distinct sections. A fairly classic controller for the LED cracker lights and a rather beefy capacitive dropper for the audio.

I'd only recommend buying one of these for the style and novelty. The sound will become annoying quickly, but can be turned off. Note that the LEDs will be dimmer on 120V and the sound may not work well.
