If you wanted to summarize in a sentence why we desperately needed the birth of this firstborn son, it’s because He is the Prince of Peace who makes peace with God possible for all people. As an idea, peace is immensely popular. We love talking about it, posting about it, dreaming about it, and planning for it. But this peace we long for can be so elusive. And it’s this often seen and far too often felt lack of peace that explains why after preaching the good news of the gospel, the angel punctuated his proclamation with a shout of peace on earth.
