What was created first, the world or the Temple? Most of you would respond with, the world. Wrong answer! :)
According to Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers), “Seven things were created before the world was created. They are: The Torah, Gehinnom, the Garden of Eden, the Throne of Glory, the Temple, Repentance, and the Name of the Messiah.”
The Temple is your glory connection on earth.
Exodus 25:8 (RSV) And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.
God desires that His glory dwells among you. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who dwells in you. I often hear people ask, “Lord, give me more of you.” I think this is the wrong question to ask. Instead, people should ask, “Lord, have more of me.”
"19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 RSV)
The primary purpose of the Temple is to facilitate the revelation of God’s Presence into your life. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
