Sermon Notes—“ReVision - Go!"
“We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.”
Colossians 1:28 (NIV84)

Lesson Text:

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19–20 (ESV)

13For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. 14For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. 16From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. 17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:13–21 (ESV)

Premise: Going (i.e. evangelism) is the natural extension of Connecting with God, Growing in Christian maturity, and Serving with your gifts.

Disciples never DIMINISH the sacrifice Christ made to bring them to God.

They’re so CAPTIVATED by the love of Jesus they serve Him with abandon.

23And he said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.24For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
Luke 9:23-24 (ESV)

Spiritual growth is understanding your new IDENTITY in Christ and living it.

15It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.
Galatians 6:15 (NLT)

22to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,23and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,24and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:22-24 (ESV)

Part of your new identity is being an AMBASSADOR for Christ.

Paul’s Message:
“Christians are ambassadors to the world, functioning as representatives of the King of kings and Lord of lords.”

If God has made us new creatures who He calls ambassadors, then GOING is what we were born again to do!

Our Serving and Going (or the lack thereof) is a BAROMETER of the health of our walk with the Lord.
Someone can’t say they’ve Connected with God and are Growing if they’re not SERVING and GOING.
