God have the biblical Israelites a promise that He would give them a land flowing with milk and honey. When the Israelites came into the land, 7 of the tribes that entered into the land did not immediately go in to possess the land that had been allotted to them. What they were waiting for is not answered for us in the Bible, but Joshua had to urge them to go possess the land.
