After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side.

Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you.

As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”

John 20:20–21

When Jesus appeared to the disciples on Easter evening they were filled with uncertainty, anxiety, and fear.

Jesus shares God’s peace with them and they are moved with joy.

They are also given a mission and being sent into the world to share God’s peace and forgiveness.
