This week Lucie has Lebanese comedian Nataly Aukar on the podcast. Nataly is hilarious, tours with Mo Amer, just had a set come out on Netflix is A Joke which you can check out on YouTube, and tours all over the US. This conversation goes deep and gets very emotional. Nataly has emigrated to the US twice in her life: the first time at age 12 as a war refugee, and then again at age 20 to study. She talks about how painful it was to be forced to leave her home at 12 years old, how she is still processing the trauma of that experience, the shame and guilt that comes along with being able to leave when others are not, how much she loves her country, why Arabic brings out the real Nataly, the time she sold all her jewelry to Armenians in downtown Beirut, her road to comedy and so, so much more.
