One of the worst situations a goalkeeper can find themselves in is being the scape goat on a team.  This happens all too often in youth soccer and its up to the coaches and parents to make sure that it is stopped and an environment of support and understanding is implemented.

There's many ways you can develop yourself as a goalkeeper without stepping on to the pitch.  There's many resources available to you like YouTube that gives your access to thousands and thousands of videos of goalkeeper highlights, training videos, games, and more.  Take notes on the goalkeepers you watch and study their game!

As you develop and grow you will be faced with new challenges as a goalkeeper and you will go through periods of not being your best.  This is completely natural and you should embrace these moments as opportunities to take your game to the next level.

Most kids grow up playing multiple sports and with the right intentions, playing another sport can help young goalkeepers to be more well rounded. Playing other sports can be a great way for young athletes to develop their game at a quicker rate.

When you are looking to join a new team and club, pay attention to the culture of that team and club.  Do the coaches, club directors, trainers treat the players with respect and hold them accountable or do they let the players run the team? Are they supportive and look beyond just winning soccer games? You want to find this out before signing with a team and club.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your game is take a break or be mindful when you are forced to take a break. During this time, you will allow your mind to soak in all of the experiences you just went through and you come back a stronger player.
