God CANNOT temp us (James 1:1-18)
Today we are starting a brand new Bible study series on the book of James! I absolutely love getting to study the books of the Bible with you and am excited to start this new series on the podcast.
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. —James 1:13-15
God is good and holy. He cannot tempt us.
There is no evil found in God and no darkness inside of Him. For he is good and light. Holy, pure, good, and just. There is no twisted-ness in him. No darkness or variation.
He does not tempt us.
We are tempted and lured by our own desires—our flesh’s sinful nature that leads us away. Not God.
Our desires can lead us to sin which leads to death. This is why we need Jesus. Jesus defeated sin and death on the cross and when he rose from the grave. In Jesus us our salvation.
So grab your Bible (I’m using an ESV translation) and a cup of coffee or tea if you’d like and let’s read the Bible together!
