When presented with the question of paying taxes to Cesar, Jesus saw they were trying to trap Him and used a coin to show that since they were part of the Roman system, they should pay the taxes to that system. As long as our government doesn’t conflict with God’s laws, we should obey their laws, but remember that our true allegiance lies with God.
