Being with God is a covenant as the bride with the groom, also seen as being adopted into the sonship of the kingdom. Living everyday with God is a choice, our choice (because God already made his choice to love you). According to Revelation 19, the bride should make herself ready, therefore there are things we must do to be ready and to be with God.
