Philippians 4:11-13 Paul was content. He had everything he needed, or at least that is how he thought about his situation.
I Timothy 6:6-8 Godliness with contentment is great gain. Having food and clothing be content! What a simple thought.
Enemies of Contentment: Covetousness, Self sufficiency, Envy
Covetousness
I Timothy 6:6-10 – The love of money

Proverbs 23:4-5
Our Western society continually lures us with covetous desire.
II Peter 2:14-19 (“an heart they have exercised with covetous practices;…” KJV)
You must decide, “What is enough?”
Self Sufficiency
II Corinthians 3:5 – (Adequacy = Sufficiency in KJV)
Deuteronomy 8:7-18
“Bless Yahweh your God.” This is one of the primary reasons to pray at a meal and teach our children to pray at a meal. It acknowledges that God is our sufficiency.
Envy (Jealousy)
James 4:5 says, “The spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy.”
Proverbs 14:30
“A tranquil heart is life to the body, But passion is rottenness to the bones.”(NASB)
“A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.”(KJV)
“A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.”(NIV)
“A relaxed attitude lengthens life; jealousy rots it away.”
James 3:13-17
Psalms 73 “The nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord GOD (the Lord Yahweh) my refuge…”
God is enough!
