Barbara Braendlein kept looking for God when things didn't work out as planned. First, she found out that her 9-month-old daughter had mitochondrial disease. Then, against the odds, her next three kids were born with the same disease. A lot of people would have understood if she had given up on God. But like a tree root seeking water, she dug deeper and deeper. As a result, through suffering and disappointment, she not only found God but she found joy and a peace that goes beyond understanding.
