The first purpose of praise is the person of God, and not what He does. Because what God does is the end product of who He is. The revelation of the greatness of God is what makes our praise to God great.
Praise to God is progressive; it is based on the progressive change/growth in the knowledge of the greatness of God. The best thing God gave us is, to give us eternity to praise Him.
