Discovering the God Jesus Knows Week 5

God is love. God is grace. But does that mean God doesn’t care how we live? In this message from Romans 6, we wrestle with a cultural moment where it’s popular to talk about Jesus—but not always to be changed by Jesus. Looking at everything from Super Bowl halftime shows to Paul’s words about grace, we confront a false narrative that says obedience doesn’t matter. Paul responds clearly: grace doesn’t lower the standard—it raises it. Because of Jesus, we are not only forgiven from sin’s penalty, we are freed from sin’s control. God’s love is unconditional, but it is never apathetic. Like a good Father, He disciplines, trains, and calls us to share in His holiness. This week’s spiritual practice challenges us to take an honest inventory of our lives, confess our sin, and trust that the God who is good, trustworthy, generous, loving—and holy—is still transforming us.
