Our world uses the word love for a lot of things—favorite foods, hobbies, romance, even “no score” in sports. But Scripture says something deeper: God is love (1 John 4:8). This week’s message reminded us that love doesn’t define God—God defines love. We see God’s love most clearly in Jesus, who was sent to deal with our sin and bring us back to relationship with God (1 John 4:9–10). God’s love is not casual or permissive. It is holy, costly, and life-giving. The offer is open to everyone, but the benefits of that love are received when we respond to Him.
