The Sonship Place

God Is Not Your Abusive Father

Listen Later

The Father's love cannot be understood through the lens of a home where love was a performance requirement, and until that separation is made, sonship will always feel like something to earn.

This teaching confronts the way early experiences of conditional, abusive, or withholding love become the unconscious template through which believers receive the Father. The argument is direct: when the love you grew up with was a circus requiring performance, the Father's love gets filtered through that same framework, turning grace into a treadmill. The teaching moves from that wound into a declaration of worth grounded not in feeling but in the logic of the cross. If God deemed you worth the price of Christ, that valuation is not sentimental. It is theological. The body, the mind, the person you inhabit are not monuments to what was done to you. They are the dwelling place God chose.
