God, My Shield and My Glory
“But You, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head.” — Psalm 3:3.
David wrote this psalm during one of the darkest moments of his life. He was running from his own son, Absalom. Imagine the pain—betrayed by someone he loved, humiliated before everyone, and fleeing just to stay alive. Yet, even surrounded by fear, David lifted his eyes and declared: “You, Lord, are a shield around me.”
A shield doesn’t stop the enemy from appearing, but it protects you from his blows. That’s how God works. He never promised you’d live without battles—He promised you’d never face them alone. Maybe right now you’re dealing with rejection, disappointment, anxiety about your future, or the weight of your past mistakes. Maybe you feel like you’ve lost your shine, like the world turned its back on you. But God says: “I am your glory.”
Glory here means restored dignity. When the world tries to shame you, God covers you with honor. When life forces you to bow your head, He is the One who lifts it. The same God who raised David from the dust wants to lift you today—to remind you that you are loved, chosen, and protected.
So pause for a moment and think: what’s been dragging you down? What’s been stealing your strength, your hope, your faith? Hand it over to God right now. He doesn’t just want to be your shield in battle—He wants to be your glory in victory.
Today, make a decision: stop fighting alone. Ask God to surround you with His shield. Say with faith:
“Lord, lift my head. Restore my strength, my faith, and my joy. You are my shield, my glory, and the reason I keep moving forward.”
He’s ready to lift you up. But you have to let Him.
