If you believe "God helps those who help themselves," then you probably have convinced yourself you can handle most situations on your own. That way you only have to bother God when you face the really tough situations. But friends, being in relationship with God isn't about self-reliance---it is about understanding what it means to deny self and to depend on God for everything.
