God Reveals His Glory - Exodus 34

Listen Later

God's glory is revealed not in spectacle, but in His self-disclosure—most profoundly through His character, as declared in Exodus 34:6–7, where He reveals Himself as merciful, gracious, patient, and just. Though the people had broken the covenant through idolatry, God renews His promise not by abandoning them, but by restoring them through grace, demonstrating that His glory is inseparable from both mercy and holiness. Moses' response—immediate worship—illustrates that true knowledge of God leads inevitably to doxology, and the temporary radiance on his face symbolizes how intimate communion with God transforms believers, though this transformation is sustained only through continual fellowship. The fullness of this glory is ultimately revealed in Christ, who satisfies divine justice and pours out grace, enabling believers to be transformed from one degree of glory to another. Thus, the Christian life is defined by a growing desire to know God more deeply, resulting in changed priorities, attitudes, and relationships as we reflect His glory to the world.
