Today, God is not so much dead as cancelled. He is not to be spoken about. If he does exist, there's nothing good to say about him: he is grim and uncaring.
How different this is from what the Bible actually says about God. Consider the most well-known words in the Bible: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3 v.16)
