God Tests and Protects

“The Lord tests the righteous, but His soul hates the one who loves violence.” – Psalm 11:5.

Sometimes, when everything seems to fall apart — when you’re criticized, ignored, or life just feels heavy — you might wonder, “Why is God letting this happen to me?” But the truth is: God isn’t abandoning you. He’s testing you.

Testing isn’t punishment. It’s revelation — it exposes what’s really in your heart. Just like gold is purified in fire, God allows trials to reveal the strength and faith He’s already placed inside you. The righteous are tested not to fail, but to grow. When you stay faithful while you’re tired, when you forgive instead of striking back, when you choose what’s right even if you stand alone — that’s when God smiles and says, “That’s My child. I can trust them.”

But this verse also carries a serious warning: God hates violence — not only the kind that spills blood, but also the kind that spills out in words, thoughts, and attitudes. Every time anger, pride, or bitterness take over your heart, you start to resemble what God despises.

God doesn’t just want to fix your behavior — He wants to transform your heart. He wants to remove the fire of revenge and replace it with the fire of His Spirit. He wants to make you peace in the middle of chaos.

So think about this: what’s inside you that God would disapprove of if He tested you today? Pride? Hypocrisy? Coldness toward others? He’s inviting you to surrender that right now.

Today, let God test and purify you. Say to Him:

“Lord, take out of me everything Your heart hates, and fill me with the love Your Spirit approves.”

Because in the end, the one who passes the test with a clean heart walks out of it protected, approved, and more like Jesus.
