God, the Rock That Never Shakes
“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” — Psalm 18:2.
When everything around us seems to fall apart—when plans fail, friendships fade, and fear feels stronger than faith—David reminds us of a powerful truth: God is a Rock that never shakes.
David knew what it meant to feel alone. He ran from enemies, hid in caves, and slept in the wilderness. Yet in those moments, he learned that true safety isn’t found in a place, but in a Person. The rocks around him offered cover, but God gave him strength within.
God is called a Fortress—a place the enemy cannot easily reach. When we run to Him, not just think about Him, He becomes our refuge against fear, sin, and discouragement.
David also called God his Shield. A shield only protects the one who lifts it. Faith that is active defends the heart; faith that stays still cannot protect.
And when David says God is “the horn of my salvation,” he points to strength and victory. What David lacked, God supplied.
Maybe today you’re tired of fighting alone or trusting in things that leave you empty. God is still whispering, “Run to Me. I am your Rock. I do not change.”
While the world shakes, He remains firm.
While everything fails, He holds you steady.
Choose today to build your life on this Rock. Say with faith:
“Lord, be my Rock, my Shield, and my Refuge. I trust You—today and every day.”
That choice changes everything.
