Today, we will kick off a 5-week sermon series as we look at the idea of Advent. As Southern Baptists, many of us aren’t familiar with this. Advent means “arrival.”
You may have heard of Christ’s first and second Advent. This is another way of saying His first and second coming. Jesus’ first Advent was His incarnation. At His virgin birth, He came as a Servant.
During the Advent season, we celebrate Christ’s first Advent, but we also look forward to His second Advent. As Israel longed for Messiah to come, as Christ-followers, we should long for our Savior to come again.
The messages in this series will cover how God with us brings: Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace before finishing up with showing how God with us is Jesus. I pray that you will celebrate the real Reason for the season!
Our message for today is titled: “God with Us Brings Hope.”
Our points will be:
Main Scripture: Matthew 12:15-21
Supporting Texts: Romans 14:5-6, Matthew 12:14, John 7:30, Isaiah 35:5-6, Revelation 1:7, Isaiah 41:28-29, Luke 9:35, Matthew 3:17, Luke 3:22, Philippians 2:6-7, Matthew 9:36, Matthew 24:4-6, Revelation 11:15, James 4:14, Jeremiah 31:35, Revelation 22:17
