The promise of Immanuel--"God with us"-- drives out our fears. Of course, we're not talking about our fears of snakes and ladders, but our deepest fears: our fear of loss, our fear of death, our fear of exposure, our fear of shame.The good news of the gospel is that, because Christ came into this world to die on the cross for us, we are reconciled to God and former have His presence with us.
