COURTSHIP & CHARACTERProverbs 18:22 - He who finds a wife finds what is good, and receives favor from the Lord.Life Application: Delight yourself in the Lord, & He will give you the desires of your heart! (Ps 37:4)If we delight in the Lord first and seek a relationship with Him before anyone else, our dreams will begin to line up with His dreams, and our desires will begin to line up with His desires for our life! This applies to whom we choose to love and give our lives to in marriage.Proverbs 19:22a - What a man desires is unfailing loveProverbs 31:10a - A wife of noble character who can find?Proverbs 20:6 - Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?Life Application: We can apply this to every season of life - courting the Lord’s character is always a worthy pursuit whether we’re single, dating, married, or even after our spouse is no longer with us! COVENANT & COMMITMENTThe Lord was witness between you & the wife of your youth…she is your wife by covenant (Malachi 2:14)Proverbs 5:15-19: Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. Let your streams of water be yours alone…May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. May you ever be captivated by her love.Life Application: If you dip your cup in the river of life that the Lords brings you, you will be one happy camper! Any other source of satisfaction can lead to a bad case of giardia or worse! CONTENTMENT & COMPANIONSHIPProverbs 17:1 - Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting with strife.Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of your life, which He has given you under the sun, for this is your portion in life (Ecclesiastes 9:9)Life Application: The perfect marriage isn’t about each person meeting halfway. It’s all about giving all you have to the other person!As we understand our marriage to Christ, our marriages will more and more reflect His love!
