God's Broken Heart (Genesis 6)

Listen Later

Because man’s heart was fully corrupt, God’s heart was fully broken. Yet even in judgment, His heart still offered grace, mercy, and forgiveness.

In this message from Genesis 6, we step into the days of Noah — a time when evil was spiraling out of control, violence filled the earth, and human hearts were “only evil continually.” The corruption was deep, pervasive, and personal. And Scripture tells us something staggering: it grieved the heart of God.

But this is not just a sermon about judgment. It is a sermon about grace.

In this passage we explore:
• The rise of corruption and the mystery of the Nephilim
• What it means that “the Lord repented” that He made man
• Why God’s sovereignty does not cancel His sorrow
• The glimmer of hope found in Noah
• The Ark as a powerful picture of Jesus Christ and salvation

Just as it was in the days of Noah (Matthew 24:37–39), so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Our world today mirrors the violence, moral confusion, and spiritual indifference of Genesis 6. Yet the same God who judged the world also provided a way of rescue.

The Ark had one door. One way of salvation. Judgment fell on the Ark — not on those inside.

That Ark points us to Christ.
