I still vividly remember standing up to give my student council speech in high school. To put it simply, I was not a strong public speaker. I sweated, shook, and stumbled my way through my prompt cards and when it was over, I promised myself that I would NEVER put myself in that position again. But of course, God had other plans. Today, I travel the world and speak to large crowds and individuals every day. Yet I resisted God’s call for me to become an evangelist for many years.
It’s funny to look back and compare today with my high-school-self. Are you amazed at the role God has you in, too? Or, maybe you’re making your own blueprint for your future hoping it all works out.
Throughout the Bible, we see over and over again that God looks for ways to use unexpected and unqualified people. God has a big plan for you and you can know with confidence: your calling and where God wants to use you is far more fulfilling and exciting than the plans you’re making for yourself. After all, Jesus said in John 10:10 that He came to give us abundant life. Surrendering to God’s call to you is the best thing you can do with your life.
