Message: God’s GPS System
The Holy Spirit opens our SPIRITUAL EYES.
(John 16:8-9) (ESV) 8Jesus said, “And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: 9concerning sin, because they do not believe in me;
(Acts 2:36-39) (NLT) 36“So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!” 37Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” 38Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39This promise is to you, and to your children, and even to the Gentiles—all who have been called by the Lord our God.”
(1 Corinthians 2:1-5) (NLT) 1When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan. 2For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. 3I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling. 4And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. 5I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.
(John 4:24)(NLT) For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
The Holy Spirit lives INSIDE EVERY BELIEVER.
(Romans 8:9-11) (NLT) 9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
(2 Corinthians 5:17) “If anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation. The old has gone and the new has come.”
(1 Corinthians 3:16)(ESV) Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
The Holy Spirit EMPOWERS US.
(Acts 1:8)(NLT) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
(2 Timothy 1:7)(NLT) For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
The Holy Spirit TEACHES US.
(John 14:26)(ESV) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will TEACH YOU ALL THINGS….
(1 Corinthians 2:10-14) (NLT) 10But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 11No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 13When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. 14But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.
