Exodus 34 is cruising along, talking about the attributes of God—how He is compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love… and then BAM!!! All of a sudden it’s “…visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.” Exodus 34:7 ESV. Seems contradictory. How do we connect those dots?
