Recently, some friends needed help moving into a new home. My chronic back issues prevented me from offering the assistance they required and a feeling of helplessness washed over me. When Jesus instructed His disciples to feed a hungry crowd, they must have experienced similar feelings. The meager offering of a few loaves and a couple of fish hardly seemed worth mentioning. Then Jesus stepped in, blessed the scanty lunch, and created a feast, satisfying every man, woman, and child present.
Often our physical limitations spur feelings of uselessness in us, especially when we recall our former abilities. Yet, Jesus receives even the smallest act, prayer, or word of encouragement and multiplies those efforts. When care is offered in Christ’s name, the sky’s the limit!
