Today’s Scripture:
Jonah 3:1a
Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time:
God’s love means you get another chance. God’s love is persistent, and it will always give you another chance. He wants to know your heart. He wants to know that you are genuinely sorry. God’s love is a second chance. In the natural sense, we as people normally get hurt and offended, and we do not always love others who we perceive or know do not love us.
This is not so with God; He loves us always. The Bible says while we were sinners, Christ Died for us. It is not that he waited until we were saved or forgiven of our sins, no. He loved us in our sin, in our mess, and in our detestable state. His love is not conditional; he gives us a second chance.
Not only did God give Jonah a second chance, but he also gave the city of Nineveh a second chance.
Here’s something that God knows about us: We are still valuable and usable even in our disobedience and selfishness. Thus, Jonah messed up the first time, but God used him powerfully the second time.
The result of Jonah getting a second chance at love was, and yielding was that over 120,000 people were saved. As a result of Jonah’s message, the people repented; they believed.
Something also happened after the people repented: Jonah became depressed. He was sad that God actually showed them mercy. I find that some people are like this. They do not want God to forgive them and bless them when they mess up, but when they mess up, God should forgive them and bless them. But thank God he gives all of us a second chance at love to receive and accept his love.
