The book of Hosea tells the story of a prophet commanded to marry Gomer, a prostitute, as a living parable of God's relationship with unfaithful Israel. Despite Gomer's continued unfaithfulness, Hosea eventually redeems her from slavery, giving everything he had to buy her back.
