The Sonship Place

God's Love Never Enables Abuse

Listen Later

God's love is not a reason to stay in what is breaking you, and sonship is not a theology of tolerance for abuse.

This teaching addresses the mechanics of how hurt people become harmful people, specifically those arrested at the place of unprocessed trauma whose mental development outpaces their emotional healing. The argument is precise: that gap between intelligence and emotional immaturity creates a net, not a relationship. The teaching then works through four distinct categories of abuse. Ethical abuse, where everything you are is constantly poured into a person who has only entitlement and no reciprocity. Social abuse, where isolation and reputation destruction serve one person's insecurity. Verbal abuse, where words entered outside of Christ bring darkness until the spoken identity and the known identity create a person who feels like they are losing their mind. The teaching is also honest about the cultural and ecclesial pressures that keep people locked in, including the ways churches and pastors can be among the most ethically abusive environments a person inhabits.

SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 3:18-19
