SERMON OUTLINE (24/04/22)
God’s love: 1 John 4: 7-10
1. The Introduction: As a Christian when we think of God’s love; what comes to our mind?
1.1 Big Idea: Look at God’s love in God’s Son from 1 John ch4 vv1-6 to see two truths to encourage us to embrace God’s love: not just have it in our head but also have it in our hands (7-10)
2. The first truth is: God sent His only Son into the world (9)
3. The second truth is: God sent His only Son to be the propitiation for our sins (10)
4. Conclusion: the exhortation: Now that we have looked at God’s love in God’s Son from 1 John 4: 7-10 to see our first truth; to encourage us to embrace God’s love: not just have it in our head but also have it in our hands – will we (7-10)
Reflection: As a Christian when you think of God’s love what comes to your mind? Knowing that God sent His only Son into the world – does this motivate you to love? Knowing God sent His only Son into the world to be the propitiation for our sins – does this motivate you to love? (Isa. 43: 11; Jn. 3: 16; 13: 34-35; Rom. 5: 5, 10; 2 Cor. 5: 18-19; Gal. 1: 3-5; 2: 20; 5: 22; Eph. 2: 4-5; 5: 25; Col. 1: 13-14; 1 Thess. 1: 9-10; Titus 2: 14; Heb. 2: 14-18; 9: 26; 1 Pet. 3: 18; 1 Jn. 3: 16-18; 4: 2, 7-10, 11-21; Rev. 1: 5-6)
