Overview: Has a sense of your own ordinariness hindered your effectiveness as a Christian- It helps to look at the men whom God chose to be apostles. Peter, for example, was a nobody, through whom God moved the world. How did God do this through Peter- Three things are evident. God gifted Peter with a particular leadership ability. God has gifted you, believer, with your own unique ability for Christ. Yet, as significant as this gifting is, Peter's success in ministry didn't hinge completely upon it. There was more. Christ specifically sought him out, confronted him, and granted him the privilege of service. The explanation for his privileged position could not be found inside of Peter, but in God's purpose. The same is true of you believer. God makes a leader. Peter then simply submitted to the authority of Christ, regardless of the cost. Like Peter, it is people who have this attitude, who make such an impact on the world for Christ, and on the lives of other believers for Christ. A life spent resisting Christ's authority is a wasted life.
