We can see God's salvation in the prophetic type of Adam. "For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive" (1 Corinthians 15:22). And we can see how God planned this salvation in real-time history through Abraham. A son would come from Abraham. God said, "All the peoples on earth will be blessed through you" (Genesis 12:3). We find this promise fulfilled 2,000 years later. "Jesus Christ, Son of Abraham" (Matthew 1:1).
As we follow the prophetic pattern recorded in Scripture, we find ourselves looking into the life of Isaac. God tested Abraham by requesting that he sacrifice Isaac as a burnt offering. As they walked together toward the place of sacrifice, Isaac questioned his father about this, Abraham gave an amazing response: "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering" (Genesis 22:8). An amazing prophetic miracle was about to be revealed.
