Genesis 1:1 Says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (KJV) What does this mean in the beginning God Created? The word for created is Bara meaning to make out of nothing the heavens and the earth.
God commanded the things to be and they appeared. The heavens and the earth are the works of God’s hand. The Bible shows that God created the universe. The genealogy traced back to Adam reflects the age of the earth to be created around 4,000 B.C. When God created the heavens and the earth, He created them in fullness.
The Earth had every mineral; plant and reserve that man would need to live. Adam and Eve were fully grown adults to multiply. God said all the trees in the garden were good for food. The trees were created with the fruit fully grown. Adam and Eve would have had to plant and wait months for harvest before they could eat.
The earth looks older than 6,000 years, because God created it aged for man to benefit from resources. God made the earth for man, not man for earth. God gave mankind dominion over the earth.
God created all things in a literal 24 hour, six days. The Hebrew word for day is “Yom” which means 24 hour day in the context of Genesis chapter 1. After each day of creation from the first day through to the sixth day, God says this for example from day one. Genesis 1:5 says, “And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.” Genesis chapter 2 is talking about this one literal 24 hour, six days of creation in more details.
I just showed you in context that the word for day in Genesis Chapter 1 is a 24 hour period. There is another teaching that says that God created two creations. It is called, “the gap theory”. Here is what it teaches.
THE GAP THEORY
The gap theory teaches that God had two creations. Here is an example of the two creations and what happened.
First ancient creation
The heavens and the earth as Genesis 1:1-2 says. Then God created the Angels and dinosaurs. An age of time came to pass. The Hebrew word for “Yom” can also mean an age or period of time. The Angels rebelled against God in this first creation. The dinosaurs were killed off.
Second creation
Genesis 1:3 is God creating of the second creation. God creates the six days of creation. The Garden of Eden was planted with Adam and Eve, and the serpent deceiving man. This is all the detail I will give about the gap theory.
Biblical Evidence
The Gap Theory is not true. It contradicts the Bible. God Created all things in six literal 24 hour days according to context with word study, which disproves this theory. The heavens and the earth in chapter 1:1-2 is in the context of the first literal 24 hour day of creation. Another thing that disproves this theory is that Angels were created on the fifth 24 hour day of creation. Here is the Biblical evidence.
Psalm 148:1-5
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens! Praise him from the skies! Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all the armies of heaven! Praise him, sun and moon! Praise him, all you twinkling stars! Praise him, skies above! Praise him, vapors high above the clouds! Let everything give praise to the Lord, for he issued his command, and they came into being.
