"Going to the Army!" is a podcast series featuring Salvation Army music.
This 13th monthly Episode is for July 2014 and marks the beginning of the 2nd year of the "Going to the Army!" ministry. Originally begun for just a few friends and family members GttA has become SO MUCH MORE than that in just 12 months. The Episodes and 'specials' have been listened to or downloaded HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of times in all continents and more than 50 countries throughout the world - and has been played to even more by listeners who share them with family, church shut-ins and other friends who do not have access to the internet. We have had to upgrade from the FREE Podomatic service three times now so many thanks to those who have donated enabling us to be able to do that.ERROR on the new epside commentary: The Air Varie - A Sunbeam was composed by Phil Catalinet and not by Albert Jakeway, who conducted the Rosehill Band in the performance heard. Apologies. This new episode features music by SA bands, songster brigades, a singing company, a congregational song...and a singing company!  Mentioned in the Episode is Brindley Boon's autobiogarphy, "The Best of Both Worlds" which is available from SP&S at this link:

The new programme continues the ever-growing ministry of GttA around the world and features songs and pieces that have been well-loved and very well-blessed for many years throughout the Salvation Army World. Thank you for supporting this podcast and for your frequent encouragement to me to continue! I assure you it is no chore (although family and health circumstances have led to te last two podcasts being a few days late! The global range of listeners continues to grow with additions to the Facebook group having recently passed 3,150 members."They shall come from the East, They shall come from the West and sit down in the Kingdom of God". Hallelujah! Much of the featured music is from my own transfers of old SA LPs, 78s and cassettes but some CD and original recordings are also included. Presented by lifelong Salvationist musician and actor Marc Harry this podcast features music by bands, songsters, singing companies and soloists. In addition, background information about the music, the Salvation Army and the presenter's own experiences are included.
