"Going to the Army!" is a podcast series featuring Salvation Army music. This 17th monthly Episode is for October 2014 and continues the 2nd year of the "Going to the Army!" ministry.
Originally begun for just a few friends and family members GttA has become SO MUCH MORE than that in just 14 months. The Episodes and 'specials' have been listened to or downloaded HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of times in all continents and more than 50 countries throughout the world - and has been played to even more by listeners who share them with family, church shut-ins and other friends who do not have access to the internet.
We have had to upgrade from the FREE Podomatic service three times now so many thanks to those who have donated enabling us to be able to do that. There is a new feature this month in which I interview a Salvationist about their life and service - it is hoped to continue and develop this feature - and if you would like to be included please drop me a line at
[email protected]This latest episode is dedicated to cornet soloists throughout the Salvation Army world and features 4 of the greatest cornet soloists from the history of the movement: Tom Giles, Deryck Diffey, Ron Mostaard and Derek Smith, as well as music by Erik Leidzen, Robert Redhead and 2 songs by Joy Webb.
This new podcast continues the ever-growing ministry of GttA around the world and features songs and pieces that have been well-loved and very well-blessed for many years throughout the Salvation Army World. I am particularly grateful to people who send me items they would like featured on GttA.
Thank you for supporting this podcast and for your frequent encouragement to me to continue! I assure you it is no chore! Much of the featured music is from my own transfers of old SA LPs, 78s and cassettes but some CD and original recordings are also included. In addition, background information about the music, the Salvation Army and the presenter's own experiences are included.
