"Going to the Army!" is a podcast series featuring Salvation Army music. This 6th monthly Episode is for December 2013 and looks forward to the coming of Christmas with a section dedicated to Advent Music.

The previous six episodes that have been played and/or downloaded over 30,000 times both here and on iTunes! Much of the featured music is from my own transfers of old SA LPs, 78s and cassettes but some original recordings are also included. Presented by lifelong Salvationist musician and actor Marc Harry this podcast features music by bands, songsters, singing companies and soloists. In addition, background information about the music, the Salvation Army and the presenter's own experiences are included.
Feedback is welcomed - as are requests for songs/pieces that can be considered for future podcasts. - either here, on this page or to [email protected]
Error alert and apology:
It has been brought to my attention that the soloist in Rhapsody for Cornet and Band is NOT David Dawa as announced on the show. It is, in fact, Michael Wilson.
While not an 'excuse' - I should have checked the CD case - the podcast was already delayed and my CD cases are in the loft where I (partly disabled) am not able to venture. I 'took a chance' and was wrong. SINCERE apologies to both David and Michael - I hope this error does not detract from the enjoyment of the podcast...regardless of the player it is an extremey fine performance! Marc (6/12/13)
