Two friends eating and drinking their way through Goldfinch–Book 6 of the Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy!
SPOILERS FOR THE SERIES
Recipes for food and cocktails mentioned in this episode:
Poor Man’s Stew aka Hamburger soup
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 yellow onion, diced or 2 tsp onion powder
8 oz tomato sauce
4 c beef broth
14.5 oz diced tomatoes
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
1 bag (16 oz) frozen mixed vegetables
1 tsp sugar (optional)
Lemon juice, as needed (optional)
Instructions:
Add oil to a large pot or dutch oven on high heat.
Add ground beef, onion, salt, and pepper, breaking it apart as you cook it until browned, about 6-8 minutes.
Add in the tomato sauce, beef broth, diced tomatoes, and Italian seasoning and stir well.
Bring to a boil, reduce to low heat and cook, uncovered, for 20 minutes, then stir in the frozen vegetables and cook for 15 minutes.
Note: I like to add the sugar and lemon juice at the end if the soup needs it. That’s just personal preference though, you do you Boo.
Wine/Cocktail Pairing: Blanc de Bleu
Inspired by a world of color, Blanc de Bleu makes a statement as the first blue California sparkling wine.
So yeah— raise your glass, swirl it dramatically, and let’s talk about Goldfinch
