The Senate has passed the federal bill that will make Google and Meta pay media outlets for News content that they share or repurpose. Meta has confirmed it will comply with the Bill by ending news availability on Facebook and Instagram for Canadian users. Michael Geist is a Law Professor and Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-Commerce Law at the University of Ottawa. He joins Gormley to explain the impact of this new law on our news access.
