Ryan Borgwardt, a Wisconsin resident, vanished during a kayaking trip in August 2024, leading authorities to believe he had drowned. However, an investigation revealed evidence suggesting he faked his death, including the deletion of his internet history, the acquisition of a large life insurance policy, and the transfer of funds to foreign accounts. Borgwardt's passport was used in Canada shortly after his disappearance, and authorities believe he may be in Europe with ties to a woman in Uzbekistan. The Green Lake County Sheriff's Office has urged Borgwardt to contact his family and continues to seek information about his location.
