It is an old Turkish doctrine: The master blacksmith calls out to his apprentice: 'If you do not nail the horseshoe well, the horseshoe will fall, if it falls, it will be thrown and broken. If the horse's leg is broken, the rider falls. That person can be  a commander, if the leader falls, the war could be lost. If the war is lost, the state collapses!'

The chain of events from a nail to the collapse of a state reveals that a small initial factor can inevitably have major consequences.
