Gravetop Church

Good Fridays

Listen Later

When we face tragedies, it’s not always necessarily for a reason. This world is broken and dominated by evil and the devil. Pain and misery may come, but it doesn’t mean that we were “meant” to endure it.

1. How [SOME TRAGEDIES SEEM IMPOSSIBLE TO COME BACK FROM] When we face tragedies, it’s not always necessarily for a reason. This world is broken and dominated by evil and the devil. Pain and misery may come, but it doesn’t mean that we were “meant” to endure it. (Luke 23:33-38; Jeremiah 29:11-13; Isaiah 54:17)

2. Hope [THE HARDEST PART ABOUT HOPE IS THE SILENCE] Hope is the only thing that can carry you through, but no one usually talks about how difficult the silence is in the waiting. Or how testing it is of your hope when you feel like you’re seeing it taken from you. The helplessness of hope when you feel completely powerless to do anything better for it. (Luke 23:50-56; Micah 7:7-8)

3. Heaven [GOD’S GOODNESS ISN’T RESTRICTED BY OUR LACK OF GOODNESS] On the day of utter darkness, paradise was promised to a dying man that had done nothing to earn it. Heaven was offered to this weak, desperate and undeserving man on the day of his disaster. And in this, we see a glimpse of God’s mercy, goodness and ability to redeem even the worst Friday into a good Friday. (Luke 23:39-46; 2 Timothy 2:10-13; Romans 8:38-39)
