If you were raised to be a good girl, you probably heard "everybody makes mistakes" but your experience was that you were supposed to be practically perfect! You didn't have leeway to make messes or just experiment and see what happens. Even as an adult, you may so dread making public mistakes that you hold back from trying new things.
